7 Peaks Ride
The 7 Peaks Ride is designed for a road cycling audience and spans experienced and intermediate riders of varying fitness levels. As an ‘at-your-own pace’ challenge, riders register and receive a passport and ride one or more of the 7 Peaks at any time during the alpine green season from late October to the end of March. The 7 Peaks are Hotham, Falls Creek, Mt Buller, Mt Buffalo, Dinner Plain, Mt Baw Baw and Lake Mountain. Riders have their passports stamped at each peak as proof of their ride and then enter a competition at the end of the season to win a major prize and individual peak prizes.
The key objectives of the 7 Peaks Ride program are to:
1. Position the 7 Peaks of Victoria as the key, aspirational road cycling destination/s in Australia
2. Grow alpine green season visitation
3. Support the ambition for Victoria’s High Country to be the dominant cycle tourism region within Australia and establish the region as Australia’s premier destination for recreational cycling, road cycling and mountain biking
The 7 Peaks Ride is well established and has a loyal and growing following. The rapid organic growth stage has reached a level of maturity with the key evolution being the nature of participation - from competition-driven to aspirational involvement with a broader audience in age range, growing female demographic and changing geographic origin.
