In February, a new program was launched to support the growth of First Peoples-led tourism experiences across Victoria, helping businesses respond to increasing visitor demand for authentic, culturally connected tourism.

The Quality First Peoples Tourism Business Program is a $2.5 million initiative delivered through a partnership between the Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC), the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR) and Kinaway – The Victorian Aboriginal Chamber of Commerce.

The program will support both new and established First Peoples tourism operators through workshops, mentoring and market-readiness support.

Developed through extensive community consultation, the program aims to strengthen First Peoples participation in Victoria’s visitor economy while fostering meaningful and authentic tourism experiences.

The program complements several broader state strategies to support First Peoples tourism including the Experience Victoria 2033 strategic plan, the First Peoples Tourism Plan for Victoria 2025–2030, and the Victorian Government’s Yuma Yirramboi (Invest in Tomorrow) Aboriginal economic development strategy.

Expressions of interest will open soon.
