Tourism North East is echoing State and Federal Government advice around the community benefits of social distancing as a result of the rapidly changing COVID-19 virus situation.

The organisation is supportive of the proactive decisions by several major High Country events to cancel. Those currently affected include the High Country Hops Festival in Beechworth, Yackandandah Folk Festival, Off Grid Living Festival in Eldorado and the Man from Snowy River Festival in Corryong.

Tourism North East is currently working with those events receiving grant funding support to enable those postponed or cancelled to be run at a later date.

With Autumn visitation now potentially impacted by COVID-19, TNE is well aware of the challenges facing regional tourism business after the impacts of the summer bushfires and continues to work closely with State and Federal authorities to advocate on their behalf.

High Country tourism business should go to vic.health.au for latest updates on the Victorian Government’s COVID-19 Pandemic plan which details the staged response to containing the coronavirus disease in Victoria as well as vtic.com.au for information specific to tourism businesses.
