Then, join Tourism North East on the ‘journey’ to help ensure Victoria’s High Country is a holiday destination that is welcoming for people of all abilities and diverse access needs.
Why be inclusive?
Making tourism accessible doesn’t need to be difficult. It is about providing a warm welcome for customers, delivering a great service and offering amazing and memorable experiences for everyone.
The Program:
Tourism North East is inviting tourism businesses to participate in an explorative process to identify opportunities and gaps to promote accessibility and inclusiveness.
Designed to provide a variety of tools and learnings needed to deliver accessible tourism offerings, the program will support up to 20 operators across the region, at no charge to the business.
Key Dates:
- Expression of interest closes: Sunday 9 March 2025 (6pm)
- Notification of acceptance: Wednesday 12 March 2025 (by 6pm)
- Program launch event, with ‘Digital Enhancement’ training: Thursday 27 March (morning) *IN PERSON, WANGARATTA
- Site visits are to be conducted at your business from April-June (capturing photographic assets)
Other work that will be undertaken during the process includes:
- Digital Enhancement Checklist (general review/analysis of your website & social media channels)
- 1:1 assessment and report (with NDIS Consultant, online)
- Revenue Management Optimisation Workshop for Accommodation (in person – optional)
- Ongoing 1:1 mentoring & follow up meetings as required
- Go to market strategy development (run by Tourism North East)
- End of Program networking event (in person, location TBC)
Eligibility
Any existing tourism business operating within the Victoria’s High Country region including: Alpine Shire, Benalla Rural City, Indigo Shire, Mansfield Shire, Murrindindi Shire, Towong Shire, the Rural City of Wangaratta and the three major Alpine Resorts of Falls Creek, Mt Buller/Mt Stirling and Mt Hotham, who meet the criteria listed.
Eligibility Criteria
- The business must have a valid Australian Business Number (ABN)
- The business must have a current profile on the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) and commit to maintaining the profile until 31 December 2026
- The business must sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) accepting the terms of participation
- The business must acknowledge that 1:1 on-site visits will be flexible and agree to collaborate with Tourism North East for video capture of accessibility features
- The business must commit to adding/updating accessibility information on their own website, at the completion of the project
