With predictions of a dry, hot summer and the annual influx of holidaymakers just weeks away, High Country tourism businesses are urged to start planning how to respond to a bushfire emergency.

Free two-hour workshops – Getting on the front foot – preparing for this Summer’s bushfire risk – are being presented in Bright and Mansfield next month which will offer practical advice to businesses located in high risk bushfire areas.

The workshops will include presentations from Tourism North East, the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources and the CFA and will focus on understanding the coming season’s potential risks, how businesses operators can physically prepare and how to implement a communications plan to help them remain viable in the event of a bushfire or other crisis event.
