At a time when travel is not an option, Tourism North East is encouraging virtual visitors to the region with the launch today of a new consumer-facing site, High Country at Home.

The platform is now live at victoriashighcountry.com.au and showcases a range of fun, informative and interactive bookable experiences, staring with:-

  • Gnocchi making class with Katrina Pizzini of Pizzini Wines.
  • The Spa at Beechworth, offering, immersive, sensory foot reflexology classes
  • Bright Brewery offering Barrel Series experiences hosted by owner/founder, Scott Brandon  and guided tasting with head brewer, Reid Stratton
  • Chef & distiller, Hamish Nugent, of Bright’s Reed & Co/Remedy Gin is offering bookable cocktail making and guided gin tastings
  • Bridge Road Brewers’ Trevor Giacomelli presenting guided tastings of three new Beechy de Wilde ales which have been fermented  with wild yeasts sourced Beechworth vignerons, Sorrenberg, Giaconda and A. Rodda. The series also includes guided pre-release tastings of Adrian Rodda’s  new 2019 Chardonnay.

Visitors will be able to select and book class dates online, receive a posted product pack relevant to whichever experience they select, then join in a Zoom class with up to 8 of their friends.

High Country at Home is also an online marketplace showcasing products from more than 100 businesses from around the region. And for Melbourne shoppers, there’s also a current list of metro stockists of a range of High Country products.

TNE CEO Bess Nolan-Cook said: “After a tough year for tourism businesses feeling the impacts of both the summer 2020 bushfires and now COVID-19, this is a good news story for our tourism industry. We are pleased to be able to to provide something to proactively take to market at this time.”

She said High Country at Home offered a great way for visitors to continue to interact with the region in a positive way as well as offering an avenue for participating businesses to generate some  much-needed cash flow.
